I Am The Life

“I am the way and the truth and the life.” (John 14:6)
Oh, there are so many ways the Bible reveals Jesus as the life. First and most obvious is Genesis chapters 1-3 where the godhead is declared to be the source of all life on earth—including human life.
So God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them…. Then the Lord God formed a man from the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and man became a living being. (Gen 1:27; 2:7)
Moving forward thousands of years, we see Jesus, who is the Life, crucified. He “died for our sins according to the Scriptures,… he was buried,… he was raised on the third day” (1 Cor. 15:3-4). Paul goes on to explain how very important Jesus’ resurrection is for us when he says,
If Christ has not been raised, your faith is futile; you are still in your sins. Then those also who have fallen asleep in Christ are lost…. For as in Adam all die, so in Christ all will be made alive. (1 Cor. 15: 17-18, 22)
And that life Jesus granted to us by raising from the dead was not for this life only. As these very familiar verses reminds us,
For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. (John 3:16)
I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God so that you may know that have eternal life. (1 John 5:13)
I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; no one will snatch them out of my hand. (John 10:28)
In his book, The Great “I AM’s” of Jesus, John Caylor says,
You have trusted Christ for your salvation. Now trust Him for your security. Let your life be hid with Christ in God and be sure that He is able to fulfill His promise, “And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself.”
Is your “life now hidden with Christ in God” (Col. 3:3)? If not, today is the day to make that truth a reality.
