The Book of Revelation | August 2024 | Issue 6
FROM THE DESK OF JOHN
Words cannot express how much I appreciate you and all that you have done for Darlene and me and for this ministry through your gifts, prayers, and friendship. Thank you!
Many years ago, when I began The John Ankerberg Show, I chose a verse to describe what I believe God called us to do in this ministry. That verse is found in 1 Peter 3:15. It says: “But in your hearts sanctify Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give a defense to everyone who asks you the reason for the hope that is in you. But respond with gentleness and respect.” That’s what we try to do each week on our program.
Since my last letter to you, I have met Jeff Myers, Ph.D. in Philosophy from the University of Denver. He has become the president of Summit Ministries. Jeff told me about his trip to Israel that caught my attention.
THIS MONTH: INTRODUCING OUR NEWEST SERIES "EXPLORING THE HOPE OF JESUS IN THE BOOK OF REVELATION"
With blessings promised for those who read the book of Revelation, one would expect to find some pretty powerful teaching in John’s words. And, in fact, that’s what we find as we read the warnings and discover hope through what John reveals to us about the future.
To all outward appearances, the world is a mess, with worse to come. But in this series, Anne Graham Lotz explains why we need not despair. There is hope and a wonderful future planned for us. Jesus’ words to the seven churches in Asia Minor contain important truths for us today. As we hear and learn, we prepare ourselves for the future God has planned for us.
Additional Resources
In this series featuring Dr. Mark Hitchcock, Dr. Ron Rhodes, and Jeff Kinley, our guests reveal God’s plan for every person on earth during the last days. They explain the fate of both believers and unbelievers when Christ return. They also detail Satan’s plan to destroy Israel, and how Jesus responds to that plan. They will also explain the timing of Jesus’ return, and what that means for us. Will believers have to endure the awful events of the tribulation period?
This series, featuring guests Dr. Ed Hindson, Dr. Mark Hitchcock, and Dr. Ron Rhodes, will walk you verse-by-verse through key biblical passages that will help you better understand the Bible’s final book, the Book of Revelation.
ENCOURAGEMENT to study THE BOOK OF REVELATION
Reading the book of Revelation can be overwhelming and confusing; however, that is not what it is meant to be. The last book of the Bible is full of hope for the present and the future. Below, read from a few of The John Ankerberg Show's guests on how Revelation has encouraged them.
"This book, the last book in the Bible, is written to give you and me a glimpse of the supremacy, the sovereignty, the majesty, the glory, of Jesus Christ; that He is the Savior who died to take away our sin. He is the Lord who rose up to give us eternal life. He is the High Priest who lives in heaven, ever living to make intercession for us. But He is also, yes, He is, He is also the king who is coming to rule the world."
- Anne Graham Lotz
"I would say, don’t get sidetracked on extreme attitudes about certain things in the book. Stay with the main picture. The plain things are the main things in the book."
- Dr. Ed Hinson
"Before all the events unfold in Revelation chapters 6 to 19, you know, the judgment, and then the glorious return of Jesus, He’s wanting the church to get right with Him; that the church at the end of the age is the one that is to present the gospel and turn the light on in a very darkened world. And so His priority, in a sense, in the book of Revelation, is the church, wanting the church to get right with Him.”
- Anne Graham Lotz
"Many have called the book of Revelation 'the blessing book.' There’s a special blessing attached to those who read, those who hear, and those who heed, or who do, the things written in this book."
- Dr. Mark Hitchcock
