Switching to the modern era, the radical Islamist Iranian Revolution of 1979 changed matters drastically and put in motion a number of factors that are relevant to biblical end times prophecy. (In 1935, under the Shah, Persia officially changed its name to Iran.) As a result of the Muslim revolution, in less than 25 years, Iran transformed itself from a close ally and good friend of America, to an arch nemesis bent on the destruction of America, Israel, and the West in general. In the process it became the premier terrorist state in the world, and a nuclear client state of Russia. With close ties to the totalitarian regimes of Russia, China, Syria, Venezuela, and a number of murderous terrorist organizations such as Hezbollah, Hamas and Al Qaeda, to name just three, Iran’s future was cemented.
