7 Days of Thanksgiving – Day 6

Day 6 – Psalm 89:1-2

I will sing of the Lord’s great love forever; with my mouth I will make your faithfulness known through all the generations. I will declare that your love stands firm forever, that you have established your faithfulness in heaven itself.

The Hebrew word is plural here: “great loves,” probably to reflect on God’s many wonderful deeds (v. 5) that demonstrate that love. The same Hebrew word is singular in v. 2. In light of the harsh questioning of God’s commitment to his covenant promises in vv.  38-45, this affirmation of God’s faithfulness at the outset is important. (NIV Biblical Theology Study Bible)
