A look at today’s news appears to show our culture descending into chaos. From political upheaval to the latest crime or natural disaster, we are left with the feeling that our world is falling apart. How can we respond? The apostle Paul urges in 1 Corinthians 15:58, “Therefore, my dear brothers and sisters, stand firm. Let nothing move you. Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord, because you know that your labor in the Lord is not in vain.” Paul faced more problems than most of us, ranging from arrest to a shipwreck and even dying for his faith. Yet instead of wavering, he stood firm, leaving a godly legacy as an example for us today.
