Do we know for sure that Jesus really died on the cross? Is it possible He merely passed out and later revived? Well in a TV interview with New Testament scholar Dr. Darrel Bock, he notes: Dr. Darrel Bock: It’s important to remember that when Jesus goes up on the cross He doesn’t go up as a pristine body. He’s been scourged. The scourging involves ah, a whip with either bone pellets or whatever, something that cuts the skin. It’s designed to cause you to bleed. So the idea that Jesus could go up on the cross, hang there for several hours and survive, ah, that might be a miracle greater than the resurrection itself. Jesus died, was buried and resurrected and appeared to His apostles and over 500 people. He went out offering salvation to all who would believe in Christ.
