Is Baptism Necessary for Salvation?

What You’ll Learn:

Is baptism necessary for salvation? Baptism is important, but not required for salvation. How can we know for certain? When Jesus was on the cross, the criminals hanging on the cross next to him asked, “Remember me when you come into your kingdom.” Jesus answered, “Today, you will be with me in paradise.” Jesus promised heaven to the man—that day! This criminal was unable to be baptized or perform any other work. He believed and was saved, just as Ephesians 2:8 and 9 promises: “By grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast.”
