DAY 5  – UNDERSTANDING AND RESTRAINT FOR THE DAY

A man of knowledge uses words with restraint and a man of understanding is even-tempered.  Proverbs 17:27

For Dad:

Father, I pray You would give my Dad understanding today. I pray You would help him to exercise restraint with his words toward his family and those he interacts with.  I pray for him to be even-tempered regardless of the circumstances.  Would You use him to display Your glory through the words of his tongue and through his reactions to situations today? Thank You that his children will learn the importance of their words through the example of his life. Thank You that his restraint allows his children not to live in fear and equips them to treat others with kindness and patience.  In Jesus’ Name, Amen

For Grandfather:

Father, I pray today that my Grandfather will have understanding.  Thank You for his wisdom and for his restraint throughout the years. Help him to listen today so that he may gain understanding. Would You use his tongue to bring forth blessing today to those around him?  Protect him, O God,  from grumbling and complaining.  Help him to be even-tempered regardless of the situations he faces today.  I pray others will be blessed as we have been by his knowledge and understanding. In Jesus’ Name, Amen

For Children and Grandchildren

Father, I pray for my children and grandchildren to have understanding and restraint with others. Would You give them the ability to listen, really listen, so that they may gain understanding? Help them to realize how much words matter.  Would You guide them in weighing each word that comes from their tongue? Teach them through the examples You have placed in their lives to be even-tempered and not quick to react.  Grow them, O Lord, in their knowledge of You and their love for others. In Jesus’ Name, Amen
