August News Update

Today, we as Christians are being confronted with cultural messages, controversies, and various products. We are bombarded with advertisements, entertainments, and the chatter of culture all around us.

How are we as Christians to remain faithful to our Lord as we live in our culture and face many of the crucial moral questions of our day?

Here on the John Ankerberg Show our goal is to answer the moral questions you face with biblical answers. We don’t just quote Bible verses to you, but we use facts from science, history, and philosophy to back up our biblical answers. Each week we invite one or two of the most knowledgeable Christian scholars from around the world to be our guests, and respond to the questions that our culture challenges you with each day.

The last few weeks you have been listening to Dr. Stephen Meyer talk about how our universe came into existence and points to the existence of God.

He has shown us how Darwin’s theory of evolution cannot account for the Cambrian explosion of animals in the fossil record. These complex animals came into existence all at once with no precursors. They point to an infinitely wise God who created them.

And fourth, Dr. Meyer has shown us how DNA in each cell of our bodies contains complicated information that points to an all-powerful creator.

If you missed any one of these programs, always remember you can watch them at our website.

This month on television our guest will be my good friend Dr. Erwin Lutzer, Pastor Emeritus of the Moody Church in Chicago, Illinois. We have entitled this series “Jesus’ Seven Last Cries from the Cross,” and it is based on Dr. Lutzer’s book, “Cries from the Cross.” We will explain to you how sin and death were defeated as Jesus breathed His last. But, far from being a defeat, Jesus’ death was actually the fulfillment of God’s plan for our redemption.

You know last words are very important. And in this series Dr. Lutzer examines Jesus’ final words to His disciples and the watching world. You will learn what each “cry” signifies, and how you can model Jesus’ example with your family and others around you. Please see the enclosed card to order the DVDs of this series as well as a copy of Dr. Lutzer’s thought-provoking book.

Then here is the latest report on Audio Bibles that you have helped provide for people who have never had a Bible in their own language.

Like us, you are committed to Jesus’ command to “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every person,” and to “make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you.”

According to the latest report we received from Faith Comes By Hearing, 14,420,071 people are now in listening groups listening and learning from God’s Word all because of the Audio Bibles you have provided them.

One young man named Dulan recently reported,

“The Audio Bible provides good, sound knowledge and cheers me as I listen. The convenience of playing it at any time is important because I now have more opportunities to independently build my spiritual life. Scripture floods my mind with peace and helps me grow in my faith.

“Before I had access to the Audio Bible, someone else had to read Scripture to me. My responses could never be private, and I sometimes felt vulnerable. Now the Lord and I have time alone and my heart is open to whatever He speaks.”

In addition, statistically we are told that roughly half of those who hear Scripture in their own language for the very first time receive Christ as their Savior! Can you imagine the rejoicing in heaven over the 7.1 million people who have become part of God’s family as a direct result of your gifts?

Of course, as we have told you, the task is not yet completed. There are still 1.5 billion or so people in the world waiting to hear. Further, there are still 2,000 plus languages that have yet to have even a single portion of Scripture translated.

(Please be aware that a portion of donations received will be used to pay for broadcasting costs and expansion of the airing and production of The John Ankerberg Show in the US and International markets.)

May I ask you to stand with us in prayer, and with your gifts, as we work together with the translation committees and Faith Comes By Hearing? The goal is to accomplish that task in the next 10 years. That goal is far beyond us in our own strength. It can only be accomplished as we work in the power of the Holy Spirit.

Recently we were honored to have some of the Faith Comes by Hearing board members visit us here in Chattanooga. We showed them our studio and offices, and spent the afternoon planning together for the future.

Many of you are watching the news and hearing how Russia has attacked the people living in Ukraine. We will be taping a TV series with one of my good friends from Finland, Hannu Hauka, who has been working and preaching the gospel in the Ukraine since before the war began. He is going to be bringing video from the war zone where he has been ministering and caring for the people and soldiers on the front lines. You won’t want to miss this series.

We will also be taping a new series on biblical prophecy later this year. I know many of you have been waiting for us to do this series. Please be in prayer for all of the guests that will be with us to tape these programs.

The Apostle Paul encouraged the Thessalonian Christians to “Encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing” (1 Thessalonians 5:11). I want you to know that you have been a great encouragement to me.

But by the same token, all of us here want to be an encouragement to you as well. We can do that by praying with you and for you. So, if you have particular needs, please let us know. Our staff prays regularly for any requests that you send us, either by email, by letter, or by phone.

Thank you for standing alongside us as we share the gospel. We believe that the time is short, but the task is still great!

Until all have heard,

John and Darlene
