To the Supporters of The John Ankerberg Show,
One of our top concerns is to be good stewards with the resources that have been entrusted to our ministry. We would like to take this opportunity to clarify information and be transparent about the way we operate this ministry under God’s divine leadership.
The Ankerberg Theological Research Institute (ATRI), dba The John Ankerberg Show, has for 31 years been a member of the Evangelical Council for Financial Accountability (ECFA). This organization was founded by the late Dr. Billy Graham. ECFA provides accreditation to leading Christian nonprofit organizations that faithfully demonstrate compliance with established standards for financial accountability, transparency, fundraising, and board governance. Annually, The John Ankerberg Show is audited by an independent agency.
We are also members of the National Religious Broadcasters (NRB), an organization of International Christian Communicators. To be a member of this organization you must belong to the Evangelical Council for Financial Accountability, the gold-star organization for non-profit’s especially Christian media ministries.
GOVERNANCE / PERSONNEL
In regard to Governance, we have an independent Board of Directors that consists of a Chairman, Secretary, Audit Committee Chairman, and 3 other independent voting members. Our Administrative, Production, IT, and Donor Services staff consists of 34 employees. The Board of Directors and the Executive staff list is located on our website here, but due to privacy and security reasons, we will not be publishing our departmental staff list at this time.
Our website was designed for ministry around the world and includes thousands of articles, videos, Bible translations in over 1,400 languages, a discipleship program in 12 languages, and much more. These resources are designed to lead people to Christ, provide answers to tough theological questions, proclaim biblical truth, encourage the believer, and challenge the skeptic.
PERSONAL NOTE FROM DR. ANKERBERG
It has been brought to our attention that secular charity assessment organizations have given our ministry a very low rating. While the service they provide you as you seek what organizations to support is important, please know there are Christian organizations available to help you, also. These secular charity assessment organizations provide information on a non-profit’s financial stability and adherence to their best practices for accountability and transparency.
Like you, we are responsible to the Lord to manage the resources He has given us. And in doing so we want to be transparent about how your donations are used to present and defend the Gospel around the world. Our goal is to serve you, and the Lord, with excellence.
In many ways, charitable organizations such as the Red Cross, United Way, and Salvation Army are very independent from a Christian Television and Radio ministry. So, to categorize charities and ministries into one specific box is not a fair representation to all parties.
Some of these organizations have never reached out to us informing us that they are attaching a rating to our ministry. In addition, these organizations often evaluate non-profits based on criteria that is incomplete or inaccurate. For instance, our 990, which is filed with the IRS every year, is available to the public. These organizations publish the 990 on their websites without a professional courtesy request to do so. In many instances, the 990 forms they have downloaded and published on their websites are not kept current.
Please if you would like any other information about this ministry or have any questions, don’t hesitate to contact us through our website at Contact JA Show or by phone Monday-Friday 9:00am – 4:30pm EST at 1-800-805-3030. Thank you again for your partnership in sharing the Gospel around the world through the ministry of the John Ankerberg Show.
