Are some sins worse than others? The Bible says all have sinned and fall short of God’s glory. In God’s eyes, sin is sin. There are not big sins and little sins—only sins. However, some sins do have greater consequences than others. A child who takes a cookie from the jar without permission may receive a small punishment. A person who steals from a business may spend years in jail. Both have done wrong, yet consequences vary. The good news is that God offers forgiveness of all sins. 1 John 1:9 promises, “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”
