Should the Statues Come Down?

It seems every national statue and memorial is in jeopardy in recent news. Rioters and activists argue for erasing the past by bringing down monuments of those who once owned slaves or even supported slavery. Should these statues come down? While Christians bow down to no image and serve Christ alone, the rush to change the past may cause more harm than good. Our history may not be perfect, but this is the story of humanity. We should acknowledge both the weaknesses and strengths of past American leaders as we seek to face the issues of our time. Only then will we focus our hope on the one who can truly heal our land—the Lord Jesus Christ.
